Our Black Crystal Silicon Carbide from a solid mass to a perfectly graded powder for industrial purposes. The silicon carbide comes from highly pure quartz sand and petroleum coke and melts at 2,500°C in large electric furnaces. The prolonged melting process allows better crystallization and results in larger crystals, high purity, and low amounts of impurities in the finished product.
After melting, every lot of the material receives additional washing both chemically and with water, providing outstanding purity on the surface of the crystals. An additional special procedure helps strengthen the product, improving its durability and abrasion resistance. As a result, we get a hard powder with increased service life, thermal stability, radiation resistance, and heat resistance. It retains good electrical and thermal conductivity properties.
In terms of practical application, our silicon carbide is used for oxidation suppression in smelting and acts as a component of refractories. Furthermore, the product serves as the basis of abrasives in wheel and oilstone grinding. At the same time, the product performs as a thermal insulation agent in the manufacturing process of modern steel.
Its use in amount of 14 kg/ton provides:
• savings of 15-20 kWh of electricity per furnace cycle,
• acceleration of processing by 15-20 min., and
• increased capacity by 8-10%.
